The Role of Forests to Provide Fuel

It's not often realised how important forests are for providing fuel. Overall, pulp and paper is a relatively small user of the total forest cut. Two Sides has estimated that only 11% of the total worldwide forest cut is used directly for making paper but there are important regional differences. In the UN FAO, Global Forest Assessment Report, 2010, Executive Summary, xxi, it can be seen how important the forests are in providing fuel in Asia and South America and how much this use impacts upon the total forest cut.
