Children’s and young people’s reading in 2013

The findings from the 2013 UK National Literacy Trust’s annual survey show that levels of reading enjoyment have improved for the first time since 2005. Similarly, compared with previous years, more children and young people in 2013 read daily outside class. However, whilst the slow switch to digital  and social media is evident, the survey does not delve into the comprehension of information and whether there is any change in the ability of children to process or store information as reading and learning moves away from paper and print.
